Crossing the Road:

Once your child understands who should be on the pavement and who should be on the road,  how should you now cross the road?

Remember your responsibility to your child!

Explain that pavements, roads and grass verges are not play areas.

Always hold hands when near the road with young children.

Walk on the outside of the path or pavement, nearest the road, with children on the inside.

Use crossing facilities when they are available and explain to your child why you are doing so. More About Safe Places To Cross The Road

When walking on roads with no footpaths, show children how they have to share the road with traffic. Walk on the right hand side, facing oncoming traffic and keep your child on the side furthest from the traffic.
